Guarantee and Inspection Service

The AWMAC Guarantee and Inspection Service (GIS) is an integral part of our ongoing effort and commitment to a credible and prosperous architectural woodwork industry.

The GIS is a national program designed to ensure clients/owners get value and quality for their money:

• To support architects and architectural designers to achieve project plans and specifications
• To help contractors avoid costly problems such as cost overruns, delays and loss of reputation.

Projects covered by the GIS benefit from the expert guidance and direction of independent, highly qualified industry specialists. These specialists are contracted by AWMAC BC as GIS Inspectors to:

• Pre-tender review of project plans and specifications to flag omissions or errors that can result in confusion during the tendering or manufacturing stages of the project  
• Review shop drawings, samples and prototypes to ensure architectural woodworking requirements are met and future problems are prevented  
• Carry out an on-site inspection so that problems can be identified and dealt with and owners/clients are issued a two-year maintenance bond/guarantee
